Application Process
College Application Process
(Please allow at least 10 days for the guidance office to process transcript and letter of recommendation requests)
- Complete the CDSD Release/Receive Information Form found in the forms area. Return signed form into the guidance office.
- Complete an Activities Resume on a word document.
- Request letters of recommendation in person and provide the recommender a copy of your activities resume.
- Submit your college/university applications on the college website or through the Common Application.
If you submit your applications via the Common Application:
-
Be sure to provide your counselor’s email address in the Common Application and provide your counselor with an Activities Resume. If you need a counselor letter of recommendation, you must speak with your counselor to request a letter of recommendation. Your counselor will upload your transcript and letter of recommendation, if requested, directly on the Common Application website.
-
Be sure to provide the email addresses of the teachers you have requested letters of recommendation from for each college listed in your Common Application. Your teachers will then upload their letter of recommendation directly on the Common Application website.
If you do not submit your application via the Common Application:
-
Log into the Parchment website at https://www.parchment.com/u/registration/20749/account. Click on New Learner Account and indicate that you have a Registration Code. Enter the Registration Code that was emailed to you and click on the Sign-Up button.
-
Request that your transcript be sent to the respective college through the Parchment link which can be found on the CDHS guidance office website.
-
If you need a teacher and/or counselor letter of recommendation sent to the college, turn in the Letter of Recommendation Form into the guidance office.
If needed, contact the appropriate testing agency and request that your SAT and/or ACT scores be sent to the college. SAT and ACT scores are not printed on transcripts.
Monitor your application status to be sure everything has been received by the college. If you check your college application portal and you have questions, please contact the college or university directly.
