Students will gain an understanding of the forces of flight, how each affects the others, and how different types achieve and maintain stable flight. Students will begin to learn basic flight maneuvers with a variety of systems and demonstrate their flight skills on the simulators.

Students will learn how UAS are used in a wide variety of industry applications and explore future applications and budding career opportunities. Students will continue to hone their flying skills on the simulator and train for future projects/operations.

Students will learn about the different types of UAVs, their differences, and their components. Students will continue to improve their flight skills through the simulator and will begin training on fixed-wing systems.

Students will gain an understanding of UAS electrical theory and how electrical components communicate with one another. They will be tested on the knowledge gained in the first half of the class and will continue to hone flying skills on the simulators.

Students will learn about preflight inspections and other protocols performed prior to or during flight operations. Students will get their first live flight experience, starting on the mini quads and working their way up to a sUAS.

Students will learn FAA rules and regulations regarding commercial use of UAS and will continue their flight training.

Students will work on both group and individual projects. Live flight training will continue throughout this unit. Students will work on editing film for their group project and will conduct research for their individual project.

Students will rigorously train and study for the FAA Part 107 Unmanned Aircraft Pilots License. This will include expanding knowledge of rules and regulations and learning how to read aeronautical charts and aviation weather reports. At the end of this unit, students will take the FAA Part 107 exam.
